The Problem Is...

June 25, 2008 / by southwesterngrad

1. God Loves You!

The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life"

The problem is that . . .

2. All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God.

The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says “The wages of sin is death.”

The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago,

3. God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.

Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.”

Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by Me."

God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior.

4. If you want to accept Christ as Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this:

"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.  Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life.  I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always."

Then, you must make life-changing decisions to begin serving Jesus for the rest of your days on this earth.  If you do, you will live forever in glory.  If you don't, your body will never rise from the grave,, be transformed nor meet Jesus in the sky when he calls his own home;  but your soul will be in eternal torment.Web-Stat

Why do humans admire and sometimes glorify people who we 'think' sacrificed themselves for the good of a lot of other people?

Then there is the question what is the true meaning of "wrong". Is it wrong for a cat to kill a mouse? Is it right or wrong to approve or try to stop this behavior? Is it right or wrong to ask such questions in the first place?

Blood sacrifice has always been the mode of atonement.  The Pagans sacrificied their children to their Gods to atone for their misdeeds.  So, it was necessary for a blood atonement to open the way to God once and for all.  Now, in order to believe that this was necessary, one must have studied the entire Bible and believe it to be the divine word of God.  Of course, one must first believe there is a God.  Having spent my entire life in the study of the Bilbe, the classics, ancient history, and ancient archeological finds, I am 100% convinced that there is a God, that Jesus Christ was His son, and that it was necessary for Christ to die on the cross.

There are far too many prophecies in the Old Testament concerning the fate of the Jews and the coming of Christ and what would happen to him for me to doubt that the word was inspired by the almighty Creator.

As to your question regarding the cat and the mouse, one must recognize the difference between animals and humans.  Animals are not imbued with a soul; man is.  What is acceptable in the animal kingdom is not acceptable in man's world.  We have a soul and a conscience to guide us.  We are created in God's image; animals are not.

As to the statement concerning whether it is right or wrong to ask such questions, one cannot learn if he does not ask the question first.

Thank you, Jenn.  It's just the age old message that every believer knows by heart; but, then it's those who question or believe but have sinned and not repented that we want to reach. It breaks my heart to think that some of the people whom I love the very most are in danger of God's wrath.  I can't constantly preach.  I can only try to lead by example with a reminder from time to time that they need to prepare for the inevitable while they still can.  One minute from now could be too late.

Thank you, Joan...even people who question need to be reminded of what is being questioned because, so often people just go through life day-to-day without any thought given to what really is to be believed or what will be done about it.  At least those who are questioning are seeking answers and/or are intune with subjects of faith, repentence, salvation, etc.

I know people who believe that leading a "good life" is all that is necessary to get into Heaven.  I'm afraid it is not that simple.  If it were, Jesus would not have said,  " How narrow is the gate and how constricted is the road that leads to life, and there aren't many people who find it!" (Matthew 7:14)

Love the message, especially about serving others the rest of our days. Whenever I get ornery and depressed I recover if I serve someone else.

    Thanks for the post,

    Cami

Thank you, Cami!  The message is straight from the Bible, as you know.
